Our Founder

Founded in 2004, Harvest Farms was the inspiration of Dr. Jackie Wilks, when she decided to open a center to help children.
Jackie has taught as a college professor and as an elementary school teacher and counselor. She started the Second Mile Program, a character developing program, at North Rock Creek School, Shawnee, OK.
Jackie wrote the introduction to a 24 book series called Vital Character for Lifeway Christian Resources.

Jackie, has her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, a Master of Arts in Teaching, and a Ph.D. in Education with an emphasis on brain based learning, leadership, and mentoring.

Married to Dr. Tom Wilks, Professor of Religious Education at Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU).
Tom & Jackie have two sons.

Hope is Jackie's horse and she loves to spend time showing Hope at Breed and Open Shows.

Jackie is also the author of the book Mirror of the Carousel. All profits from this book go to support the Harvest Farms Therapeutic Riding Center.

On December 17, 2009, Jackie was diagnosed with IV stage Pancreatic Cancer. It is our wish that you join us in prayers for this incredible woman. Jackie will remain instrumental in the activities of Harvest Farms; continuing as one of the Certified Riding Instuctors.
